Nurturing children is consistently the primary concern for every family, thus making the school an inherent extension of this familial focus. Especially after several years of special times, every family  should pay more attention to the link with the school. The value of this link is particularly important, not only for the individual, but also for society and the future. When I received the invitation from Student Affairs, hoping to share the topic of children's growth, my heart was filled with waves of emotions and my mind overflowed with memories - a blend of both bitter and sweet experiences. My sharing might be a bit different and longer than usual, but every word embodies the genuine thoughts of a mother from the depths of her heart.

Family

It's important for families to do what is right, even though it may not be easy.

Samuel is not a 'transfer student', but rather someone who has been home-schooled for almost three years. At the start of 2020, our family made a significant decision to temporarily have all siblings study at home with me as their teacher. While this may seem unimaginable and understandable for some families, I was initially hesitant and uneasy about it. Thankfully, my children's father provided unwavering support and cooperation throughout the process. Looking back now, it was undoubtedly challenging but ultimately rewarding.

In the meantime, we have also visited some international schools, and have also received admission offers. However, through the process of teaching in recent years, I have become more aware of what kind of cultivation concepts and teaching environment our children need. There is a child of my friends named Harry who has been studying in oasis school. When adults get together, they shared about Harry’s campus life in GOS and the happy growth, Harry is also the Idol of Samuel. We are very grateful for the sharing from the families. It is this trust and understanding that I gradually feel that my family's educational philosophy is very compatible with Oasis School. Therefore, we resolutely gave up offers from other schools and firmly chose GOS.

Adaption In Year 5

Step by step, and insist on self-demand

Chinese textbook drama

In the autumn of 2022, Samuel Joined Year 5 of Green Oasis School and started a brand-new campus life. He is very cheerful and sunny. He quickly integrated into the new group. Every day when he comes home, he tells me that he remembers the names of several classmates and understands the characteristics of new friends. I clearly remember the first online parent-teacher meeting, Mr. V and Miss C told me that Samuel is not like a new classmate at all. He got along very well with everyone on the first day, and everyone also likes Samuel very much.  Samuel was very happy in school and was extremely excited to come back to share all kinds of interesting things about the school every day. Looking at his happy face, we knew how right this waiting and decision were. Through Samuel's various sharing, I learned the dedication  of GOS teachers, as well as their all-round attention and guidance for each child, which really puts my mind at ease.

Samuel said that Mr. V chats with him like an older brother, and they discuss life, the future of our planet, and recommend books. Samuel purchased all the recommended books and started reading them eagerly so he can have more topics to talk about with Mr. V in their next conversation.

Samuel said that Mr. A, the music teacher, is really awesome. He will share a bunch of cool music videos with us, let us experience the joy brought by different instruments and also show us how to play them at home while explaining all the details and essence.

Samuel mentioned that Miss Nina, the school nurse, was super nice and friendly. Whenever he went to the infirmary with a small injury, the school doctor always treated him with such kindness. He said it made him feel really cared for.

The Year 5 courses are very diverse. Samuel is obsessed to every project, and he will devote himself to it. For example, in the theatrical performance in the Chinese class, Samuel and his friends chose ‘Wu Song Fought the Tiger’. They held their own meetings to discuss, divide labor and cooperate, studied lines, movements and props, rehearsed, refined the details, and finally appeared on the stage and won warm applause.

In this academic year, Samuel has made consistent progress in all areas. He has learned to set goals for himself and find motivation within. The joy he brings home from school spreads throughout the entire family. This is the incredible influence of children, fostered by the daily companionship of teachers and fellow students at Oasis School, and it's also the heartwarming image that parents cherish the most!

Blooming in Year 6

Children should be encouraged to soar high, reach far, and maintain stability. It is essential for schools and families to collaborate in achieving this goal.

Chinese speech

In Year 6, Samuel turned into a more confident and composed individual who thought carefully before taking action. At the start of the semester, he analyzed what it takes to be a leader and decided to run for Student Council. He meticulously prepared his campaign draft and was successfully elected. Now that he attends weekly meetings, he actively contributes his ideas with hopes of creating value. Samuel emphasizes that all ideas and suggestions are respected and thoroughly explored to form an executable plan, which has made him even more responsible.

The parent-teacher meeting in October once again reminded me of the teachers' delicate care and love. Ms. N shared Samuel's school life with me attentively, offering particularly relevant suggestions in various areas. I am truly grateful for these valuable insights, as they will enable our families to better collaborate with the school in nurturing our children. When I met Chinese teacher Miss Hedy, the first sentence she said, "Samuel is a beloved child." It deeply resonated with me and touched my heart. To provide such a delicate comment about one child, it shows that GOS teacher  pay great attention to the students then they can discover these inner qualities.

In the recent Chinese speech, Samuel has once again actively participated in the Chinese speech. Green Oasis School provides a diverse environment for children to experience competition, the thrill of victory, and the importance of accepting failure as part of progress. It is only within this vibrant and high-quality setting that children can learn to overcome obstacles and explore new territories with confidence.

From setting goals to forming habits, from making attempts to striving for excellence.

Orchestra

Samuel has practiced two musical instruments since he was a child, piano and violin. He achieved excellent at ABRSM level 8. In Year 5, he did not join the school orchestra, because he was still in a campus adaptation stage, and he was afraid that he could not cope with it. On Children’s day, Samuel was invited to the Shenzhen Grand Theatre to perform a violin concerto with the Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra, which was very successful, which gave him more confidence and strength. Therefore, at the beginning of the sixth grade, he said that he would join the school orchestra this semester and share the experience of the orchestra. Of course we support it! When it comes to musical instruments, children who learn musical instruments are lonely and hard, not to mention two musical instruments. Here, I want to share with parents that making a plan is more important than the plan itself. It is best to make a plan with your child before implementing the plan. For these years, Samuel has maintained a musical instrument training program of at least two hours a day, which has never been interrupted. Children will also feel bitter, but when he wins honor, training gradually becomes an initiative in life. We are not afraid to walk slowly. As long as we keep walking up, we can always reach our own height. As long as the direction is right, slow is fast. The training of two musical instruments made Samuel realize the importance of focusing on doing anything and understand the truth: the essence of gain is to pay. Most of the time, no matter how reasonable parents say, they can't compare with the true meaning of their children in self-training.

Samuel went second Dan as an amateur, an activity he enjoyed very much in his extracurricular life. From the training of Go, Samuel gradually realized the importance of planning and reviewing. Now, Samuel is in the habit of planning and reviewing any competition or project. We often discuss that people who do not have the ability to learn tend to overestimate their ability. Learn to plan, you can keep a slow pace, learn to review, you can always stay awake, learning habits and abilities can be cultivated, but must be patient and focused. From goals to habits, from attempts to qualities, this is the direction of life we summarize with our children.

Samuel is really into sports. Over the years, his coach has set up a strict training regimen for skiing competitions every winter, and he consistently follows a weekly swimming plan of over 10,000 meters. From starting out to receiving professional coaching, it requires immense self-discipline. It's a long and challenging journey that may take many years and doesn't always turn out as spectacular as expected. However, throughout this process, there are numerous small victories that bring about a sense of satisfaction and pride from not giving up. As Martin once said: "True self-discipline comes from within." As an ordinary mother, the way I try to instill self-discipline in my children is through perseverance and determination. Gradually, they will develop their own understanding of what it means to be disciplined.

Every step of growth is the trace of life. The brilliance of life, will also spread out from every corner of the child, that is to belong to the child's own quality of light.

Epilogue

The greatest joy in life.

Children may not become renowned writers or poets and achieve extraordinary feats in the future, but we can raise them to be compassionate individuals who possess a heart as pure as snow and radiate brightness like the moon. They should be people whose words and actions bring joy and tranquility, naturally attracting others towards them. Our society yearns for more of these ordinary souls. Love within families nourishes children; love within schools nurtures their hearts; only when children are embraced by love can our future hold boundless hope!

Wherever love exists, a bright future awaits. - that's what I believe and it's also the main reason why we wholeheartedly choose Green Oasis School. The best thing in life is waking up and realizing you've become the person you always dreamed of being. May every child at Oasis grow up surrounded by love and become the person they aspire to be!
