Misty Mountains with 4G

Class 4G’s journey through the topics lead them to topic 2: Misty Mountains – a wonderful unit, with a strong focus on geography. In the first few weeks, they made their own clay mountains, created a school treasure map, and designed posters about specific types of mountains.

Teamwork was important and the kids worked very well together.

Next up, the kids got into pairs and worked on their school treasure maps. With some prior knowledge of the school layout in mind, we encouraged and provided them with a bird’s eye view of the school to use as a guide.

Lastly, our students looked at five different types of mountains: Volcanic, fold, plateau, block and dome. They worked individually, and did research to create a poster on one mountain type. Volcanoes were obviously the most popular, so most students chose this one!
