Principal's Message
Welcome to the Green Oasis School website. If you are considering sending your child to Green Oasis you have made a valuable first step in the process and I hope that you find the site useful and informative.
At Green Oasis we aim for academic excellence in an international setting. All teaching is in English but all children are also taught the Chinese language. After a relatively short time with us your child should be able to communicate in both Chinese and English, the two most prolifically used languages in the world. We aim for an environment which really does encompass the very best from the East with the very best of the West.
Our class sizes are small and our teachers are highly experienced, qualified professionals recruited mainly from the UK, Canada, Australia and the US. If you care to look in the ‘About Us’ section of this website you will find further information about each section from both Anne Stock, Head of Primary and Lane Lambert, Head of Secondary.
We follow the National Curriculum for England in the primary section and the Cambridge International Curriculum leading to Cambridge IGCSEs in the secondary section. Further information about our curricula is available to parents in the Learning Management System (LMS) which can be accessed via this website. There you will be able to access schemes of work and lesson plans from the teachers in Secondary school as well as being able to check on your child’s academic progress. We have a regular assessment programme and underpin our lesson plans with clear learning objectives.
The school is closely linked to the Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) which has a great reputation for sending students to prestigious universities in the United States and in Britain. Many former students of SCIE now attend Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College, London as well as Cornell and Purdue in the USA. Green Oasis students who achieve four passes at IGCSE with a qualification in English are guaranteed a place to study A-level at SCIE.
We are proud of the academic achievements of our students and of the progress they make at all stages of their education. We are equally proud of our extensive range of opportunities for students outside the classroom. We are continually looking for new ways to encourage children to explore new opportunities to extend their skills, interests and creativity in even more innovative and dynamic ways. An example of this is our broad range of extra-curricular activities and our programme of school trips and summer camps.
We are a school which tailors the learning experience so that each child has the opportunity to flourish through building on their learning experiences in meaningful ways. We ensure that we cater for individual student abilities and learning styles through a method called differentiation. We aim to ensure that each student has the means to maximize their true potential in a meaningful and supportive context.
The school is well equipped with a ‘state of the art’ music studio incorporating a recording studio, a large room for performing arts, a gymnasium, dedicated classrooms and laboratories and fully refurbished canteen and play areas for the Primary students. The school has invested heavily in modern technology and all classrooms now have interactive whiteboards in order to get the best out of our students.
